H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) is a Swedish fashion retailer founded in 1947 by Erling Persson under the name Hennes ('hers' in Swedish) in Västerås. The brand took its current name in 1968 after acquiring menswear retailer Mauritz Widforss. The bold red H&M logotype, simple and monolithic, is one of the most recognisable visual identities in global fashion.
