The North Face — the logo

The North Face is an American outdoor equipment brand founded in 1966 in San Francisco by Douglas Tompkins and Susie Tompkins Buell. The logo — three arcs forming a quarter-circle — was designed in 1971 by Californian graphic designer David Alcorn; it depicts the west face of Half Dome, the iconic granite monolith in Yosemite National Park. The mark has remained virtually unchanged for over fifty years.
