Uniqlo — the logo

Uniqlo is a Japanese casual wear retailer founded by Tadashi Yanai, who opened the first store in Hiroshima in June 1984 under the name Unique Clothing Warehouse. A subsidiary of Fast Retailing, it is known for affordable, functional basics. In 2006, Japanese art director Kashiwa Sato designed the current logo: red and white (the colours of the Japanese flag) with the brand name in katakana script, asserting a distinctly Japanese identity globally.
