Western Union was founded in 1851 in Rochester, New York, as the New York and Mississippi Valley Printing Telegraph Company, taking its current name in 1856 after a series of mergers. It dominated American telegraphy for over a century before pivoting to money transfers. Its current logo is a clean typographic mark with yellow as the signature colour.
