Duolingo is an American language-learning app founded on November 30, 2011 by Luis von Ahn and Severin Hacker in Pittsburgh, opened to the public in June 2012. The freemium platform has several hundred million users. Its green owl mascot "Duo" became a global cultural icon, with the current logo introduced in 2019.
