Nissan — the logo

Nissan was founded in 1933 in Japan; the name derives from the Tokyo Stock Exchange abbreviation for Nihon Sangyo. The first emblem, appearing in 1933, combined a red circle referencing the Japanese flag with a blue rectangle bearing the "NISSAN" wordmark. The current logo, adopted in 2020, uses a flat minimalist design, replacing the three-dimensional chrome badge used since 2001.
