Peugeot — the logo

Peugeot is a French automaker whose roots go back to 1810, when the Peugeot family founded a steel foundry in the Doubs region. The lion trademark was first registered by Émile Peugeot on 20 November 1858, originally symbolising the quality and flexibility of the company's saw blades. In 2021, Peugeot introduced a new flat, heraldic lion inscribed in a shield, marking a deliberate return to the historical coat-of-arms style of the emblem.
