Tesla — the logo

Tesla was founded on 1 July 2003 in San Carlos, California, by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, named after inventor Nikola Tesla. The stylised T logo, created in 2003-2004 by RO Studio, represents the cross-section of an electric motor — a fact revealed by Elon Musk in 2017. The original grey shield surround was later removed, leaving the clean T mark in use today.
