Nike — the logo

Nike was founded on January 25, 1964, in Eugene, Oregon, by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman as Blue Ribbon Sports, before becoming Nike, Inc. in 1971. The Swoosh, one of the world's most recognisable logos, was designed in 1971 by graphic design student Carolyn Davidson at Portland State University for a fee of $35. The shape references the wing of the Greek goddess Nike, personification of victory.
